The Proto Shield Plus on-board Potentiometer

The Proto Shield Plus comes with a general-purpose potentiometer with knob. It is useful to set a desired reference voltage.

P1 terminal connects by default to Arduino analog pin A1 (by means of SJPOT, closed by default).

If your application requires a filtered reference signal, you can add by yourself the C6 capacitor (1206 SMD case).

Using the potetiometer with a different Arduino analog pin

Cut SJPOT in the middle to disconnect A1 from the P1 POT terminal.

The central pin of the potentiometer connects to the two pads marked in red in the figure below

Connect one of these pads to the desired Arduino analog input pin.

If you want to easily connect and disconnect POT from A1 pin, you can add a male 2.54 pitch 1x2 pin strip connector to JPOT pads and use a jumper to connect / disconnect A1.
